During a kitchen remodel you usually lose the stove, the sink, and the counter space all at once — and most "remodel meal" advice still assumes you'll cook. SmashMeals are already cooked. Each meal reheats in the container it comes in, in a microwave, in about 2–3 minutes. A microwave on a folding table in the dining room is the whole kitchen you need.

The Real Problem Isn't Cooking. It's Dishes.
The usual workarounds — slow cookers, air fryers, electric skillets, grilling every night — all still leave you with a pot or a pan to scrub, and during a remodel the only sink left is usually in a bathroom. That gets old by week two. Takeout solves the dishes but adds up fast and is hard to keep gluten-free or high-protein for weeks on end.
SmashMeals skip both problems. Meals arrive fully cooked and labeled. Per our reheating guide, you heat the meal in its own container with the lid resting loosely on top — medium power for 2–3 minutes, stir, and eat. When you're done, the container goes in the trash or recycling. No pots, no pans, nothing to wash.
What a Remodel Kitchen Actually Needs
- A microwave — moved to the dining room, garage, or laundry room.
- A refrigerator — the old one in the garage or a temporary spot works fine.
- A trash can and a fork. That's it.
No stove, no oven, no counter, no sink. If you still have an oven or toaster oven hooked up, you can finish meals there for a crisper texture, but you don't need one.
How to Plan Around the Remodel
- Order by Thursday 11:59 PM ET at order.smashmeals.com. Order one week or several — there is no subscription and no minimum.
- Pick a mix: individual entrées for lunches, breakfasts for early crew-arrival mornings, and family-sized dishes if you're feeding a household.
- In the Tri-Cities, choose pickup or local delivery. Anywhere else we ship to, it's $30 flat-rate FedEx Ground to eligible addresses.
- Store and heat each meal according to its label. Reorder each week until the countertops are in.
Gluten-Free Without a Kitchen
Eating gluten-free is hardest exactly when you can't cook — restaurant and takeout kitchens are shared. SmashMeals has run a dedicated gluten-free kitchen since 2017: no wheat, barley, or rye in the building and no shared gluten-containing equipment. Other allergens are handled in the facility, so check each meal's ingredient label. More on how we handle it: dedicated gluten-free meal delivery.

How ordering works
- 1. Pick your meals Browse the menu that's live this week and choose what you want. Subscriptions are optional — order one week, every week, or whenever you need it.
- 2. Choose how you get them Free pickup at our Kingsport kitchen and Grab & Go partners, $15 home delivery in the Tri-Cities, or $30 flat-rate FedEx Ground for eligible addresses. Orders close Thursday 11:59 PM Eastern.
- 3. Heat and eat Meals are fully cooked and ready to heat. Local pickup and delivery meals arrive fresh, never frozen; shipped meals are flash-frozen for transit. Follow each item's storage and reheating directions.
- Dedicated gluten-free kitchen — We do not bring wheat, barley, or rye into the building and we do not share equipment with gluten-containing production. A dedicated gluten-free facility is not an allergen-free facility — check each label for other allergens.
- Transparent nutrition — Many current menu listings include calories and macros. Check each selected meal's label and ask for any ingredient or nutrient detail you need to make a choice.
- Cooked in Kingsport since 2017 — Founder-run production kitchen at 1917 Meadowview Parkway, Kingsport, TN — the same kitchen for local pickup, local delivery, and shipped orders.
Kitchen Remodel Meals FAQ
- What do you eat during a kitchen remodel with no stove or sink?
- Fully cooked meals that only need a microwave, and that heat in their own container so there is nothing to wash. SmashMeals are cooked in our Kingsport, TN kitchen and reheat in the container in about 2–3 minutes on medium power. A microwave, a refrigerator, and a trash can are all you need.
- Do I need a subscription to order for a few weeks?
- No. Order any week you need, skip any week you don't. There is no subscription and no minimum order. Orders close Thursday at 11:59 PM ET.
- Can I order for a remodel outside the Tri-Cities?
- Yes, if your address is in our shipping area. Shipping is a $30 flat rate by FedEx Ground to eligible addresses. In the Tri-Cities, pickup and local delivery options are available.
- How should I store the meals without a full kitchen?
- Keep them in any working refrigerator or freezer — a garage fridge is fine — and follow the storage and reheating instructions on each meal's label.
- Are the meals gluten-free?
- Yes. Our kitchen has been dedicated gluten-free since 2017, with no wheat, barley, or rye on site. Other allergens are handled in the facility, so review each meal's ingredient label.
