Will My Meals Arrive Fresh or Frozen?
Local pickup and home-delivery orders arrive fresh, never frozen. Orders sent by FedEx are frozen before they leave our kitchen and packed in insulated boxes with gel packs. When a shipped box arrives, check the food itself with a food thermometer; USDA says mailed perishable food should arrive frozen, partly frozen with ice crystals, or at 40°F or below.

- Local pickup and home delivery: Meals arrive fresh, never frozen. Refrigerate them promptly and follow the storage directions and date on each label.
- FedEx shipping: Meals are frozen before they leave our kitchen and packed in insulated boxes with gel packs. Arrival timing still varies by destination and carrier conditions.
- Arrival check: Open the box promptly and measure the food itself—not only the gel packs—with a clean food thermometer. Do not rely on appearance or odor alone.
- If shipped perishable food arrives above 40°F, do not eat or taste it. Contact SmashMeals promptly with the order number, tracking details, meal names, and arrival condition.
- After a safe arrival, follow each meal label for refrigeration, freezing, thawing, and reheating because meals and components can differ.
