HYROX publishes one fixed format: eight 1 km runs alternating with eight workout stations, so every athlete covers 8 km of running plus 8 stations. That structure is the reason a generic "eat a big pasta dinner" answer does not transfer. You are not running continuously and you are not lifting in a calm gym: you alternate, repeatedly, between running mechanics and loaded pushing, pulling, carrying and lunging, usually for somewhere between an hour and two hours depending on the athlete and division.
Two practical consequences follow. First, the total duration is long enough that starting with low carbohydrate availability is a real risk, not a theoretical one.
