KINGSPORT, Tenn., Sept. 14, 2026 — Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk have signed most-favored-nation pricing agreements with the federal government, making their GLP-1 medications — semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) — available through a new government platform, TrumpRx, at an average of roughly $350 a month for vials. People paying out of pocket are projected to save around $3,000 a year.

Real relief, with real limits
This is a genuine drop from list prices that have run well over $1,000 a month for some patients. It builds on a separate July 2026 development — the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program, which lets some Medicare beneficiaries access weight-loss GLP-1s for a $50 monthly copay, with the program reporting over 500,000 seniors saving a combined $216 million in its first two months. Neither program covers everyone, and both still route through prior authorization and eligibility rules that vary by plan.
Cheaper medication, separate grocery bill
A lower drug price doesn't touch the other line item in a GLP-1 budget: food. Appetite is still smaller, protein needs haven't changed, and groceries bought but not eaten before spoiling are still money lost. "However the medication gets priced, the food question doesn't go away," said Lew Kizer, founder of SmashMeals. "Someone eating three or four bites a meal still needs those bites to count."
