Oak Ridge isn't a city built on tourism or service work — it's built on long, focused, brain-heavy shifts. Oak Ridge National Laboratory researchers grinding through experiments, Y-12 National Security Complex engineers on rotating schedules, Consolidated Nuclear Security technicians who can't run home for lunch, and Methodist Medical Center clinical staff covering the only hospital between Knoxville and Crossville. Add the Oak Ridge Rowing Association crews launching from Melton Lake at 5:30 AM and the high-school cross-country runners training at Haw Ridge Park, and you've got a town full of people who need real protein and zero excuses for skipped meals. SmashMeals ships chef-prepared meals from our dedicated 100% gluten-free kitchen in Kingsport (≈2 hours east on I-40) via FedEx Ground to eligible Oak Ridge ZIP codes — Jackson Square, the ORNL corridor, Melton Lake area, plus Oliver Springs and Clinton in Anderson County. Every meal is chef-prepared, macro-labeled, and made in a facility that has never had wheat, barley, or rye in the building. Order Thursday 11:59 PM, FedEx with transit timing based on destination and carrier conditions in insulated packaging. Subscriptions optional, no commitment.

That avoids shared gluten-containing prep equipment and airborne flour from on-site gluten baking, which reduces cross-contact risk compared with a shared kitchen. Anyone managing celiac disease should review our allergen practices and consult their own healthcare provider.
