Preparing for Bariatric Surgery: Match Each Meal to Your Clinic's Plan

Preoperative instructions are not interchangeable. Start with the written plan from your bariatric surgeon or dietitian, confirm that solid prepared food is allowed, and compare every current item with that plan before ordering.

There is no universal SmashMeals pre-op plan

Use the written plan from your bariatric surgeon or dietitian as the source of truth. SmashMeals sells prepared food; it does not prescribe a preoperative diet, clear a food phase, or determine whether a current item fits your surgery plan.

First question: are solid prepared meals allowed?

If your instructions do not allow an ordinary prepared meal on a particular day, do not substitute one from the menu. Ask the bariatric team what is permitted and when.
