After Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, food progression and individual tolerances are not interchangeable. Start with your bariatric team's current instructions, confirm the food texture you are cleared to eat, and compare one current item at a time before ordering.

NIDDK describes dumping syndrome as symptoms caused by rapid gastric emptying. Stomach surgery is a common cause, and care can involve individualized changes to how and what a person eats. A product category, low-sugar phrase or single nutrient value cannot guarantee symptom prevention.
Use your bariatric team's instructions as the source of truth. SmashMeals sells prepared food; it does not diagnose dumping syndrome, prescribe a post-operative diet, clear a food stage or certify a current item as medically appropriate.
ASMBS explains that patients generally progress from liquids to soft foods and eventually solid foods under the bariatric team's instructions. Do not use an ordinary prepared entree during a liquid, puréed or other restricted stage unless your team specifically approves it.
Record the item, amount, timing and symptoms, then contact your surgeon, dietitian or other qualified clinician. A prepared meal cannot diagnose the cause or guarantee another episode will not occur.
ASMBS notes that bariatric programs set protein guidance and that vitamin and mineral supplements are needed after weight-loss surgery. A prepared meal does not replace prescribed supplements, laboratory monitoring or follow-up care.
See the NIDDK overview of dumping syndrome, NIDDK eating guidance, ASMBS Roux-en-Y overview, and ASMBS life-after-surgery guidance. Your current written care plan takes priority over general educational material.
